Go Green Hostingfrom Go Green Hosting
GoGreen hosting is a green web host which is proved throughout their webpage. Their name, their sub-heading (“Reliable Green Web Hosting”), their title (“100% Green Certified Web Hosting”) and their tagline (“Leaving a smaller footprint”) all suggest this. More so, preserving the resources of this planet is a part of their ‘ethics policy’.
GoGreen uses wind powered renewable energy by offsetting 100% of their electricity. With this effort GoGreen is able to eliminate 125,670 pounds of greenhouse gases from atmosphere every year. That’s an equivalent of 20 acres of planted trees or 15 cars off the road each year. GoGreen also promotes the 3 R’s (reuse, reduce and recycle) in the workplace.
GoGreen supports many green programs that have till date helped over 10,000 commercial buildings and 400 manufacturing firms to improve their energy technologies and equipments. GoGreen supports going green so much, that they even provided all the information about conservation and wind power on their website for the readers to read. They provide GoGreen icons or badges for their customers who can put on the websites to show that the owner of the website is concerned about the environment and therefore is making use of green web hosting.
GoGreen shows how strong their ethics are by putting up their ethics policy online. Their ethics include the clause of honesty as well full commitment to their customers and many other community ideals. These ethics also mention that they use reclaimed and recycled materials, promote public transportation and bicycles, and recycle all their waste.
GoGreen offers plans starting from $9/month with 1GB disk space and 20GB bandwidth. But their prices go up to $27 per month with 3GB disk space, 100GB bandwidth and unlimited domains. Some of the features in these plans are Joomla support, Drupal support, image galleries, unlimited email accounts for the highest plan and few more. While their prices may not suit everyone’s pockets, they do offer discounted prices to non-profit organizations, but sadly, this is only mentioned in their ethics policy and nowhere else on their website.
They have recently started providing free BDS server hosting which supports a variety of platforms: x86 compatible, AMD64, Alpha, IA-64, PC-98 and UltraSPARC® architectures. BDS Hosting is well-suited for a number of desktop and server applications.
Their customer support is shared with another web hosting service and is available via phone or a ticket. They also provide various tutorials and help pages for their customers. But their shared customer support seems weak and complicated.
Overall, they tend to be a little too expensive and although they provide a customer support option, it is not very well maintained. In fact, their “Order Now, Services and Support” pages aren’t working properly and that is a big dissatisfaction!
